What is a Bounty?

Bounties are challenges created by our users, each carrying a specific Buzz reward. As such, Bounties are a way for the community to collaborate, solve real-world generative AI challenges, and be rewarded for contributing to the Community.

If you need something created, but don’t have the time or technical knowledge, you can post a Bounty, which other Civitai community members can submit their Entries to. It’s a little like trading for services at a marketplace!

The Bounty Page

What are the Bounty Types?

You can post a Bounty for practically anything Generative AI related, but we’ve included a few different Bounty Types, to help categorize the most frequent requests;

Bounty TypeDescription
Model CreationUse this Type if you’d like someone to train a Model for you.
LoRA CreationUse this Type if you’d like someone to train a LoRA for you.
Embed CreationUse for Embedding requests.
Data Set CreationIf you’d like someone to compile a data set of images for training, use this option.
Data Set CaptionIf you’d like someone to add captions to a data set you have compiled, use this option.
Image CreationIf you’d like entrants to create images for you, this type’s what you need.
Video CreationIf you’d like someone to create a video for you, use the Video Creation category.
OtherAny other Bounty request can go under the Other Type!

How do I post a Bounty?

Firstly, Bounties have to be paid for with Buzz. The higher the Buzz “reward”, the more likely people will participate in trying to “win” your Bounty. It’s up to you to decide how much to set your Bounty at, but the minimum Buzz to post a new Bounty is 500.

To get started posting a Bounty, hover over the blue “Create” button in the top right of the page, and select Create a Bounty ?

You’ll be asked for some information;

FieldPurpose/Description
Bounty NameA short, snappy, name for your Bounty
Bounty TypeCategorizes your Bounty – if your task doesn’t fit the pre-defined ones, there’s an Other option.
About Your BountyA detailed description of what you’d like the Community to produce for you, to satisfy your Bounty.
Example ImagesYou must upload at least one image which will be used as the Bounty cover image. You can also include other informational images here.
Start DateWhen you’d like the Bounty to start running.
DeadlineWhen you’d like the Entry period to end. After the Bounty Deadline, nobody can submit any other Entries to your Bounty.
Bounty RewardsThe Buzz reward amount for completing your Bounty.
Max entries per hunterHunters, those submitting Entries to your Bounty, may post a minimum of 1, or more depending on this setting, Entries.
AttachmentsIf you have supporting files for your request, they can be submitted here.
TagsTags to appropriately categorize your Bounty.
Depicts an Actual PersonIf your Bounty involves the likeness of a particular person or celebrity, you’re required to check this box, and adhere to the usual Civitai Terms of Service on real-people content.
Mature ThemeIf your Bounty is intended to produce mature/adult content, this box must be checked. Note that you cannot post a Bounty which is both Mature Themed, and Depicting an Actual Person.

Upon clicking Save, the amount you set for the Bounty Amount will be debited from your account, and your Bounty will be posted! The Bounty amount will be held in “escrow” by Civitai, until the Bounty is complete, and an Entry is chosen.

How do I Submit an Entry to a Bounty?

Inside a Bounty, below the main information, there’s a Submit Entry button. There is no Buzz charge to submit an Entry to a Bounty. Entries require the following inputs to be posted;

FieldPurpose/Description
NotesA detailed description of your Entry – what it is, what it does, why it’s the best one and should be chosen over the other Entries, etc.
Example ImagesEach Entry requires at least one example image. This will also serve as the Entry cover image.
Sample FilesIf you’d like to provide Sample images, showing off what your Entry does, you can upload up to ten, here.
Bounty FilesThe final Bounty deliverables. These files will be locked and unavailable to other site users, and the Bounty poster, until the Bounty poster chooses your Bounty as the winner.

Once an Entry has been chosen as the winner by the Bounty poster, the Buzz reward is transferred to the Entry-poster’s account, and the submitted Entry files are unlocked for the Bounty poster.

Bounty Filters

There are two ways to filter Bounties;

The time period filter allows us to order the Bounty view a number of ways – from Newest, to Ending Soon.

The main Bounty filter allows us to view Bounties created in the last Day, Week, Month, Year.

It allows us to filter to the specific Bounty Types, and it allows us to filter our view to only view Open, Expired, or Awarded Bounties.

Special Notes!

There are a few special considerations listed below;

  • Refunding a Bounty – If nobody has entered your Bounty, you can delete it, and you’ll be refunded the Buzz amount. If someone has entered your Bounty, you won’t be able to delete or close the Bounty.
  • Expired Bounties, and Bounties with no chosen Entry – If you don’t choose a winner from the Entries submitted and the Bounty ends, you’ll receive an email with instructions.
